Shilo's first year at Girls Camp

This week Shilo went to Girls Camp for the first time. I had her type a little about her experience:

"This is Shilo. This week was Girl’s Camp. Girl’s Camp was awesome and I wish that it wasn’t over because it was so much fun. We arrived on Wednesday. We started off by doing an obstacle course called slaying our Dragons. We had to do the obstacles to get a certain piece of armor for our bishop to wear on Friday. On Thursday we did quests and personal quests. The normal quests was were you got with your year/age group and went to different places and we would talk about a certain subject and when we were done with that places we would get a charm for finishing that place. Then we would go and do our personal quests where you would find a place by yourself and either read your scriptures or write in your journals or just watch nature for a half a hour. Then we would do one more quest with the same group and earn another charm to put on the necklace. Then we could do whatever we wanted while we were waiting for our time to go horseback riding. I went with the 5 leaders and 4 girls. In that group was one of my best friends named Samantha Howe we later found out that she was allergic to the horses and went home the next day hoping to get better. On Friday the same exact things happened up until dinner. But there was no horseback riding that day. At dinner the bishop came and he had dinner with us. Then came the part where he put on the armor and did ring catching and jumping over hurdles and things like that. But he didn’t win which was perfectly fine with me. He still rocked the place down. On Saturday nothing much happened. We did have bathroom duty on the last day which was ok. Then we packed up, cleaned the cabin and went home."

She came back a different girl. More mature and self confident! Today was fast Sunday and guess who was the first Young Woman up to bear her testimony! Shilo even beat the leaders up to the podium.

We have been hearing all about the fun of Girls Camp and now Shari is also excited about it. Only two more years and she will be there with Shilo.

Oh boy! I guess we need to make sure she enjoys the spiritual stuff just as much and the pranks!
